Excursions with the "Adler-Express"

From April to October, the "Adler-Express" departs from Pellworm via Hallig Hooge to Amrum and Sylt every Thursday and additionally from May every Monday at 09:30.
The journey to Sylt takes a good 5 hours.
Sylt, the most northerly of the North Frisian Islands, offers something for everyone. Well-known places include List in the north with its ferry harbour, or Kampen, the "St. Moritz" by the sea.

In Wenningstedt, the past is very close, as the burial sites from the Stone and Bronze Ages show. Westerland is the best-known town, with a big city flair and the only railway station on a North Sea island. Keitum, the former capital of Sylt, is characterised by the seafaring era, especially the heyday of whaling. Rantum with the nature reserves Rantum Dunes and Rantum Basin as well as Hörnum are located on the southern part of the island of Sylt, which is particularly threatened by the North Sea. The starting point for the island excursion is the harbour in Hörnum. The "Adler-Express" also departs from there.

From April to October, the "Adler-Express" departs every Thursday at 09:30 and from May also every Monday from Pellworm via Hallig Hooge to Amrum and Sylt. The journey time on Amrum is approx. 7 hours (approx. from 10:55 to 18:05).

Good to know: The Pellworm spa card is also recognised on Amrum.

The island of Amrum offers nature lovers everything their heart desires. Around half of the island is covered by dunes, which are a nature reserve. The dune region is replaced by forests, which give way to farmland, meadows and heathland - ideal terrain for relaxed hiking.

The Amrum lighthouse is a proud 63 metres high, making it the highest landmark for sailors on the North Sea coast. On a clear day, you can enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view of the North Sea and the neighbouring islands from up there. The ruins of the tower of Pellworm's old church are also clearly visible from up there. The starting point for your day trip is the harbour town of Wittdün. The "Adler-Express" also departs from there.

From April to October, the "Adler-Express" departs from Pellworm via Hallig Hooge to Amrum and from there to Föhr every Thursday at 09:30 and from May onwards also on Mondays. Arrival on Amrum is at approx. 10.55 am, where you change to the "Adler-Rüm-Hart", departure 11.15 am.

You have approx. 5.5 hours on Föhr.

Departure from Föhr: 17.15 hrs to Amrum, change there to the "Adler-Express", departure 18.05 hrs. You will reach Pellworm at approx. 19.25 hrs. The shuttle bus takes you from the pier back to the "Old Harbour".

The beautiful island of Föhr, also known as the "Frisian Caribbean", cannot be reached directly - only by boat or aeroplane. The island is surrounded by the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park, which is so unique that it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. With a total area of 82 square kilometres, Föhr is the second largest German North Sea island in terms of area. It is large enough to wander into the distance and small enough to reach everything within a short day trip. The island is characterised by kilometres of white sandy beaches, a uniquely green natural landscape and a mild maritime climate favoured by the Gulf Stream.

More than half of the approximately 8400 islanders live in the harbour town of Wyk on Föhr. Here you can discover a multitude of historic Frisian houses, attractive shopping facilities, shops and galleries as well as cosy restaurants and cafés. While feasting and enjoying the delicacies on the three-kilometre-long beach promenade, you can enjoy a fabulous view of the unique world of the Halligen islands for free. The eleven quaint Frisian villages next to the harbour town are also worth a visit. Idyllic thatched roof houses, flowering front gardens, small side streets paired with pleasant hospitality invite you to linger.

Over 200 kilometres of signposted and easy-to-navigate cycle paths are available to cyclists of all ages. There are also five themed routes that take you on a journey of discovery across the island and lead you to the most beautiful spots. You can hire bikes at over 17 hire stations, which have the right bike for every requirement.

Since May 2019, the "Adler-Cat" has been travelling from Amrum to Heligoland on Mondays and Thursdays. From Pellworm, you first take the "Adler-Express" to Amrum, where you change to the "Adler-Cat". You have just under 4 hours on Heligoland. You will be back on Amrum in time to take the "Adler-Express" back to Pellworm.

Heligoland, Germany's only high seas island, lies far out in the North Sea. Literally like a rock in the surf, "Lange Anna", the island's landmark, rises up as a red rock at the northern tip of the island. This is also home to the smallest nature reserve in the world, the Lummenfelsen. In June, visitors to the island of Heligoland are treated to a unique natural spectacle: the Lummensprung.

Away from the main island and little touched by daytime tourism is the dune, a sunshine paradise for holidaymakers on the island. PARKING AND SHUTTLE SERVICE

You can park at the Old Harbour and at the spa centre and use the free shuttle bus to the pier (Adler Express departure).
The shuttle bus departs at 9.15 a.m. from the Old Harbour and then from the spa centre and will take you back to the Old Harbour and spa centre in the evening after arriving at the pier.
